Bass guitarist Mark Jardine was born in Dearborn, Michigan,
and, like many of House of Usher's members, his was a musical family: His mother
played guitar, his grandfather was a ragtime pianist, and his uncle played drums and
saxophone. As he puts it, "Music has been around me throughout my life." Although
he played clarinet and guitar in grade school, he did not take up bass guitar until he
heard the Police's "Walking on the Moon" at age 19. Since then, he's been an avid player, with influences
including Peter Gabriel, Yes and Marillion. In addition to progressive rock, he is also a fan of reggae and funk styles of playing,
and has been having a lot of fun playing the bass parts to Bach counterpart pieces. You can drop Mark a line here
