The band is hard at work finishing the writing on their new album, Stages. It's a concept album which tells the story of a troubled young man's life--and afterlife. While a few of these songs have been played live once or twice ("A Soul Without," "Recover," "Father Me," and "Love Begins"), there's a ton of new music which ranges stylistically all over the map, including 70s rock, drum-n-bass, Arabic pop, hard bop, and baroque counterpoint...while never forgetting the band's progressive roots. House of Usher's music has grown so much that the band is overflowing with creative ideas; hence the flood of new material. Expect a CD in the 70-minutes-plus range.
To maintain creative control over the project, House of Usher will record this CD in-house. The band's production capability has been expanded greatly with the addition of three in-home Pro Tools lite workstations, affording members the luxury of time to get every track just right before calling the CD finished. Recording is expected to begin late summer or early fall, with an expected winter 2001 release date.
